The Couperier Coursolle cutlery workshop in Thiers has its roots in the 17th century, when individually hand crafted sujet knives with artistic motifs of rural life were created. In 1902, Léon Coursolle presented a pioneering knife that became more affordable thanks to an innovative technique in which motifs were embossed into brass handle scales using bronze moulds. Jean-Marc Couperier took over the family business in 1988 and developed new products alongside the traditional "le Coursolle", always using solid brass as the unmistakable hallmark of their products.
