Fontenille Pataud, a high-end manufacturer of fine cutlery since 1929, is based in Thiers, France. All work steps are carried out by hand by one cutler. Before the Laguiole knife existed, the area around the Aubrac (Auvergne) had already built a knife and called it Capuchadou. The farmers of that time used it for all daily tasks, from eating to caring for animals to self-defence. The Fontenille Pataud workshop is reissuing and reinterpreting the CAPUCHADOU knife, a pioneer of the Laguiole, for you. The 12 cm long, ergonomic handle is made from amourette wood. The wood has a beautiful grain. Resort and backspring are forged from one piece. The cloverleaf is decorated with an inlay of cornaline (gemstone). The resort and plates are elaborately chiselled by hand. The wide, sharp blade is made from stainless 14C28N Sandvik steel. It retains its edge and is easy to resharpen. The finish of the fine slipjoint knife is polished. The item comes with a handmade leather sheath and a numbered manufactory certificate.
