Limited Edition – numbered – Compagnon made from poplar burl
A superbly crafted Thiers knife, the COMPAGNON model, from the long-established CHAMBRIARD forge in Thiers, the French capital of knife-making. The handle scales are made from stabilised poplar burl. It captivates with its expressive, lively grain and an extraordinary, almost three-dimensional structure. This gives each knife its very own character, making it a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
This numbered special edition was personally crafted by Alexis Chambriard. For the blade, he uses high-quality, stainless 14C28N Sandvik steel with a hardness of HRC 58–60. The blade is finely honed by hand to a very sharp edge. Another distinctive feature of this special series is the carefully polished pins, which lend the COMPAGNON a special and elegant touch.
The taut back spring is elaborately decorated by hand. At the very front is the characteristic ‘T.’ for Thiers. The images show an example model. The COMPAGNON is supplied with a high-quality leather sheath.

CHAMBRIARD
Coutellerie CHAMBRIARD Cutlery in Thiers
In the heart of Thiers, the knife capital of France, is the forge and sales store of the CHAMBRIARD family.
The store is known beyond the country's borders. Over 5000 different items of cutlery from more than 160 manufacturers can be found there. Around 100 of these blacksmiths are based in Thiers itself.
The family-run business is open seven days a week, 360 days a year from Monday to Sunday.
In 1998, the first THIERS knife CHAMBRIARD model Compagnon was created in the forge, followed by other models until 2005.
Each Thiers knife model must be presented to a commission for approval. This committee decides whether the knife conforms to the rules and may bear the name Le Thiers.
Philippe Chambriard is assisted by his brother Dominique in the purely manual production process. In the meantime, Philippe's sons, Pierre-Alexandre and Valentin, also work in the family business.
The small forge now has many fans, because the quality of workmanship is absolutely convincing!
