Max Capdebarthes is a master leather craftsman located in the tiny (pop. 800) 12th-century village of Sauveterre de Rouergue in the south west of France.
Each sheath is made from carefully selected genuine cowhide. Mr. Max Capdebarthes is considered by most knife manufacturers as the best leather craftsman in Europe, perhaps the world.
About this sheath: This full grain leather sheath comes in 4 sizes to accommodate most Laguiole knives. It features a metal snap closure and dual vertical & horizontal belt loop.
Double stitching can be found on all stress areas to provide years of use without stitch failure. This sheath is made of 1/8 inch thick ultra soft cowhide full-grain leather. The leather sheath are available in the colours black, maya, and choco.
This sheath is for:
- 9/10cm will accommodate 9 & 10 cm
- 11 cm will accommodate 11 cm knives
- 12 cm will accommodate 12 cm
- 13 cm will accommodate 13 cm
Consider this: Max Capdebarthes only works with full grain leather which is the highest quality grade of leather money can buy. This leather type comes from the top layer of the hide and includes all of the natural grain and natural marks. It is more expensive to buy and more difficult for to work with, as a result this is reflected in the cost to the consumer.
Break-In period: Your new sheath may appear to be a little stiff at first, this is normal. As full grain leather ages it will adapt to the shape of your knife. Over time, the sheath will develop a much sought-after patina and a unique character that cannot be duplicated. The more you use it, the better it will look and feel.
